This week is a media roundup. Here’s where Thomas More Society and our clients showed up in the national conversation over the past week.

FEATURED: Paul Vaughn In Wall Street Journal: In an op-ed published August 3 in The Wall Street Journal, Thomas More Society client Paul Vaughn told the country what it is like to have the federal government prosecute you for exercising your religious beliefs. Vaughn, a Christian father of 11, was indicted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act after peacefully participating in a protest outside a Tennessee abortion business. In October 2022, FBI agents arrived at his home in a pre-dawn raid and arrested him at gunpoint in front of his wife and children.

Vaughn was later convicted, then pardoned by President Trump in January 2025 as one of 24 pardoned pro-life advocates.

Here is a look at some of the coverage that ran this past week.

• The California Post Editorial Board’s column “Rob Bonta is pro-choice — as long as the choice is abortion,” took the California attorney general to task for publicly predicting victory in his recent press release. Read it here.

• WORLD’s The World and Everything in It featured TMS Staff Counsel Nathan Loyd in its Legal Docket segment, which examined the case of Los Angeles County lifeguard captain Jeffrey Little. Represented by Thomas More Society, Little is fighting for an exemption from the county’s Pride Month flag mandate, which violates his religious freedom, after the county told him he must raise the flag “irrespective of personal beliefs.” Listen here.

• WORLD’s The World and Everything in It also covered the California trial, reporting that testimony has wrapped up in a case that could decide whether pro-life pregnancy centers may tell women a chemical abortion can be reversed. The segment carried Peter Breen's observation that the state never identified a single woman who said she was deceived, alongside Bonta’s claim that the six weeks of testimony strengthened his case. • Decision Magazine, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, reported on the Vaughn settlement. The article featured Thomas More Society Senior Counsel Steve Crampton, who called the raid a profound injustice and framed the settlement as both a vindication for the family and a warning that the weaponization of federal law enforcement against people of faith must never happen again. • Fox News broke the settlement news, reporting that it brought much-needed closure to his family after a traumatic, multiyear ordeal. The piece recounted the pre-dawn FBI raid, the gunpoint arrest in front of his children, and the felony conspiracy charge that had carried the threat of more than a decade in prison. Read it here.

• The National Catholic Bioethics Center, in its August 4 Bioethics Public Policy Report, noted that Thomas More Society has launched an online hub offering guidance for Abortion Pill Reversal litigation as enforcement actions against pro-life pregnancy centers mount in several states.
